MISTERO degli 8 CONIGLI su L'INDICE

'Il mistero degli otto conigli', una mia opera che e' stata scelta per essere inserita in un bellissimo articolo di Luca Bugnone su L'Indice dei libri del mese di maggio.
L'articolo intitolato "Scimmie fiacche, cavallette bonarie e locuste fameliche allo zoo (I saperi, la vocazione narrativa e i progressi dell'Homo Sapiens), parla di noi che, come esseri umani, abbiamo qualche problema di percezione della realta'. La nostra interpretazione del mondo che conosciamo, ci porta a chiuderci in uno zoo autocostruito, divisi in gabbie dove ci chiudiamo da soli a seconda del gruppo di appartenenza, rimuovendo cio' che sensi e scienza ci dicono. 
Un po' come dei conigli abbagliati dalla Luna.

L'INDICE dei LIBRI del MESE!

Ieri mi e' stata consegnata la nuova edizione dell'Indice dei libri del mese. Grazie al Direttore Andrea Pagliardi per avermi invitato. L'edizione di maggio che, come consuetudine, ha la copertina disegnata dal grande Franco Matticchio, contiene quasi una trentina dei miei lavori, primo dei quali e' questo, 'Sinfonia d'autunno', un'opera che parla di musica e urbanistica, dell'armonia che dovrebbe accompagnare la pianificazione delle nostre citta'.
Uno dei primi passi potrebbe anche essere quello di moltiplicare le ciclabili ed eliminare i veicoli privati Diesel, che tanto rovinano i nostri polmoni e la qualita' dell'aria.

COVID-19 - MILANO's LOCKDOWN - DUOMO

The City of Milan is in a lockdown except for all necessary services. Therefore also all our religious stations have been closed with their activities suspended until futher notice.
Nature has taken this chance to do what it's supposed to do: reclaim what's been taken away.
When all this crisis will be over there's so much rethinking to be done about our society and economy. Luckily there are many brilliant proposals being made online these days, in spite of all those whose main activity is trolling destructively against anybody. Let's be positive and think about what we can do to help one another to change the structure of the whole system which, no need to say, is corrupted to the bone (Go Fridays for Future, go!).

I met a man, a gentleman. It was a short time ago, on a Sunday, around noon.
We spoke of his country, a beautiful island, a pearl of the Orient, he sang sweet Italian songs, we ate food from both our countries and cheered together with the other friends we were dining with.
Later I showed him my works and we stopped before this one.
It was an allegory of our encounter. I found out how much I like this painting that I rediscovered and looked with different eyes from those who had seen it painted.
Indeed, after a while, art doesn't belong anymore to the moment and the artist who brought it into existence.
He liked it too, for reasons which are not for me to fathom.
In a moment when art is considered more as an investment than for the pleasure it may offer to our daily lives, it's good to know that from now on someone else will enjoy it, too.

THEY ARE WATCHING US - Work in progress

"They are watching us" a new painting that will be included in my new exhibition next month.

Still a long way to go, but it starts taking shape. I think that one of the most important aspects in an artist's work is the possibility to accomplish on canvas what one has in mind. Even though control is just one of the factors, another would be spontaneity, it gives the artist freedom to try and do things. Trial and error is part of that R&D (Research & Development) that all of us do through the whole of our career. Not doing this would lead to style-stagnation and boredom.

Each artist has to publish three images a day for five days, suggesting also a new artist each day. My first suggestion was the famous Italian illustrator Costanza Favero; for Day 2 I have invited Walter Gropius!

For Day 2 I have chosen a few images from my 2013-2014 exhibitions. Characters in those paintings have surreptitiously come together in today's Facebook banner.

HISTORY 53 - 2014 - VISITOR'S VISA

In a moment of dire consequences, Susumu 進, the Japanese Koi, undertook the perilious challenge to follow the bureaucratic path and get all the necessary documents to come and visit the city. In order to combine business and pleasure, he took this chance to help solve the catastrophic moral failure affecting the labour market, without asking for whatsoever reward or monetary remuneration. To him go the citizenry's enduring affection and gratitude.

EQUILIBRIUM (7)

Creativity is a path to freedom

Do you remember that day in 1972 when the San Francisco skyline changed forever (so to speak) when the Transamerica Pyramid was completed?

They say that a sense of serene fulfillment grabbed the hearts of everyone and that for a day, a smile was the expression that everyone wore on their faces. These combined together into a gigantic smile that rose up for just a moment to the very top of the skyscraper's pinnacle. It was one of those warm evenings when everyone feels at peace with oneself and the universe and forgetful of every day's toiling.

No pictures were taken, no article was written on the press, no governmental statement was issued.

At the end of the day, what was left was a mere feeling, a subdued sensation of calm and hope and, deep within the hearts of those who witnessed the event, the certainty that the impossible, no matter how unbelievable that may be, is just a few millimeters away from common sense.
